Banana Republic Is Anything But
I pride myself in my ability to identify expensive jewelry and appreciate it. So I was bowled over when I complimented the hostess' necklace at an upscale restaurant only to be told, "Oh this thing? I got it at Banana Republic."
I had drunk a couple of glasses of wine so the exchange didn't stay with me, but my husband remembered, and two weeks later he presented me with a box. A present! I love presents. Inside, I was delighted to find the beautiful necklace I'd so much liked. My husband was a bit embarrassed – he said it wasn't much, a small thing. In the other words, it was cheap.
I love my new necklace. I wear it everywhere and take my word for it – it looks like a million bucks. You'd never know it was anything other than jade and 14 carat gold. But it got me to look at Banana Republic's jewelry collection and low and behold, they have a lot of cute things for really low prices.
So whether you're the gift giver or on the receiving end, you'll now be able to treat your inner snob without breaking the bank!
