Calypso Markets the Pom-Pom Clutch

The happiest day of my life was the day Calypso St. Barth opened an outlet north of Los Angeles. The saddest was when they closed it.

I swear, that outlet couldn't have been there longer than seven months. With the way Calypso clothing flies off the shelves, I guess that's not entirely surprising. So it is with revenge in mind that I feature a photo of the most hideous bag Calypso St. Barth has probably ever made.

I mean look at it.

The Pom Pom Clutch is "hand woven raffia with individually dyed raffia woven pom poms," according to the Calypso website. I gather from this description that someone actually spent time making this bag, a horrifying thought in and of itself.

To add insult to injury, it retails for $165. Truth be told, none of the Calypso handbags are anything to write home about. They're sedate, uninspired and overpriced.

Now if I could only dismiss their clothing line so easily. Then I could stop pining for that outlet to return!
