Can Coach Make a Comeback?
I almost feel like apologizing for mentioning Coach on this blog twice in a single month. Mostly, that's because I'm not a fan.
I used to be – there was a time when I didn't carry any other kind of bag. My mom carried Coach bags and, when I was old enough, I got one too. But that was when Coach was considered high end, at least by my middle class Midwestern family.
Nowadays, the Coach outlet is full of tourists and their bags seem to be everywhere. Too many lines of small, affordable handbags have lowered the value of the brand.
So it's not entirely surprising that Coach has been trying to raise their profile again. Classy high profile ads keep popping up in the high-end fashion magazines. Their strategy must be working because they've gotten my attention.
The Stefanie Heel is quite stunning, and it's not something you can just pass over. Hence the homage to Coach this week. A lovely summer shoe might not be enough to put them back on the charts, but it is definitely a good first step!
