Earth Never Looked So Good

Ah rings, I love them so.. gold – eh, silver – that's my staple, bakelite and wood – what??? Enter, Amanda Loos. First off, I think Amanda Loos as the Halston of jewelry. I love the play with geometric design within her pieces. They are fun to look at and it's art for the eye and the finger! Looking at her site, you almost feel like you are looking at a gallery pf pieces. These pieces are based in tribal and modern lines. I love the colors and I love that they are made of wood. The ring above, entitled Earth, is made of Black Walnut wood which has such a rich look to it. Due to Amanda's father who works in construction, she has created beautiful pieces from wood scraps that would generally have no other use – until now. In addition, Amanda gives back, although she assists in including trees within her design, she also gives back to Trees for the Future. As each ring sells, she plants two trees – this is such a great way to give to fashionistas and the environment as well. Now the Bakelite adds an interesting vintage element, this material existed during WWII and is no longer in production. So you are definately merging the worlds of old and new when you wear her pieces. And because these pieces are so unique, each person adds an additional persona to these already stylish pieces.
