Giving Goes Both Ways

Giving goes in so many ways. You can give to yourself while also giving to someone else. I just became aware of an interesting site, Design 21 where a purchase on this site actually allows a portion of the funds to go back to a variety of organizations that you can choose from. This simple act of purchasing and giving, will also make you aware of what's going on in the world around you. In Sunday's New York Times, I was not only introduced to the site, which I have bookmarked, but also Richard Hutten who has an amazing eye for design. The piece pictured above is apart of the Allumonde Collection. Available in Stainless Steel (shown above), Black Titanium Plate, Gold Titanium Plate and sterling silver, these pieces range from $35 (the retail price of the one above) – $2500. You can also get a kid friendly lucite version which comes in a pack of 6 for $25. When purchasing these items, 21% goes to charity. 19% of this goes to a charity that you can designate (with over 100 available, you're bound to find a cause that is near and dear to you) and 2% will go to Unesco which assists in creating art centers for children around the world.

What's not to love about this ring? I love that it has a great modern design that is eye catching and will play well with other jewelry that you're wearing. Yet again, these are pieces that work well with any outfit that you can imagine. If you end up getting one, I am sure that you will enjoy adding to your collection as you go through your gold, sterling silver and titanium phases. Take a moment to check out the site to see this social community of designers and those concerned with the world around them working together for the better.
