Oh The Single Life
It's amazing how much we are able to identify about ourselves or others. If you're engaged, people are able to look down and know that you are about to move on to the next phase of your life and when married, you have something that shows this as well. But when you're single (I take single to mean that you're either no longer with someone or you are in a relationship but you have yet to go down the engaged or married route), what do you have that says what you are? Well, Johan Wahlback created the Singelringen which is Swedish for Single Ring. This was his answer to single people being able to show where they were in their state and the beauty of it is, it's unisex. Although it can be worn on either hand, many wear this on their right hand or on a chain around their neck. I love that this ring has an acrylic blue band that goes around the sterling silver ring accept for the crescent which exposes the sterling silver. This crescent can be worn facing out to show that you are open to opportunities of meeting someone new, or you can wear it as I do, closed as I am in a relationship (but obviously not engaged or married). Since the ring is complete as a circle, it also reflects how you are whole as a person.
I really love that this ring is light to wear and it was an amazing piece of conversation but there is also something else interesting about the Singelringen. This is a community, there is a unique number placed within each ring and you can go on the website and put your ring number and activation code and connect with others who also carry this ring! I absolutely love anytime a sense of community is created and those who wear it within the celeb community include: Terrence Howard, Haley Bennett (she played cora Corman who was the rock star whose lyrics had to be written in Music and Lyrics), Paula Abdul, Mario Lopez, Vivica Fox, Naomi Campbell and more. Wow can’t believe you have this over in Europe a Singelringen… I just stumbled across the Equivilant in Australia… called SHI Symbol(meaning Single-Happy-Interested)and thought what a fantastic idea. The symbol means the opposite to married… but it is in a pendant form and they have a similar symbol for the people wanting same genda partners – Ive been single for a long time and how fabulous that someone can now recognise another single person… makes life so much easier. I definitely think that this is a great piece and I have absolutely worn it everyday that I have gotten it. It’s so light, and is such a great way to break the ice when meeting new people!
