Shades: the Ultimate Accessory
Sunglasses are the ultimate accessory. They subtly convey status, mood, style. I am not a person who loses her sunglasses. Instead, I just destroy them. Scratches take hold or styles change, and they go into The Drawer. I have a name for The Drawer – it's called "The Sunglass Graveyard."
Recently, a local eyeglass store had a promotion where if you brought in two pairs of glasses, you could get $100 off your purchase. The glasses went to charity. I looked over my collection and decided that I couldn't part with any of my frames.
I own Oliver Peoples aviators, real white gold sunglasses that are vintage one-of-a-kind, Armanis, Blinde (I could go on, but I'm embarrassing myself). "I don't own Chrome Hearts," I tell myself, to reassure myself that I am not a total pig. And I do keep my glasses (for as long as any self-respecting slave-to-fashion can).
Today I'm coveting these gorgeous Tod's shades from Bergdorf Goodman. I love the simple temple decoration. They're so retro. They'd look great in my graveyard… or on my face!
