The Perfect Shoe

I admit it: I'm angry at Christian Louboutin. What gives him the right to design perfectly beautiful shoes and then charge prices so outrageous that none of us can ever acquire them!?

Case in point: these beautiful sandals. There is nothing – absolutely nothing – unique about these sandals. They are not daring or different. They are, as with all Louboutin's other designs, simply perfect. They are as a sandal should be: the correct heel height, the right color, the right amount of braided fabric in proportion to the right amount of leather.

Or take these shoes – the Platform and the Slingback Pump. There is absolutely nothing wrong with them. In fact, every pair of pumps should look just like these. But they don't. Why can't Jessica Simpson make pumps like these? Instead, any other designer will insist on putting bows on them, or making the rise too low, or the heel too fat.

Why do they do this, when it is so obvious that a shoe should look just like this.

Sigh.

I guess, all I'm saying is that I want is something simple, but to get that I'm asked to pay $745.00. And that, my friends, I simply cannot do.

In the meantime, while I contemplate this national injustice, I will continue to dream that Christian Louboutin will answer my dreams by opening an outlet…
